For many years, the Hazlett family, through Cameron Brae Group, has proudly sponsored the prestigious Fisher’s Ghost Art Award, an annual celebration of artistic excellence presented by Campbelltown Arts Centre. This ongoing commitment reflects a value inspired by the late David Hazlett: to invest in the prosperity and growth of the region by supporting meaningful local initiatives.

One of the highlights of that commitment is the Open Award, valued at $50,000 and acquisitive to the Campbelltown City Council Art Collection.

The award sits at the heart of the long-running Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, a celebration of creativity, culture, and community that has been woven into Campbelltown’s identity for more than six decades.

Honouring Local Talent and Creativity
The 2025 Fisher’s Ghost Art Award attracted a record number of entries from across Western Sydney and beyond, showcasing the depth of talent and diversity within the arts community.

This year’s judging panel; comprising artist and Creative Producer Eddie Abd, CEO of Murray Art Museum Albury Blair French, and Director of Parramatta Artists’ Studios Sidney McMahon, selected a body of work that reflects the technical skill, conceptual strength, and creative depth of Australia’s contemporary artists.

At the Award Announcement held on Friday, 31 October 2025, Nicole Barakat was named the winner of the Open Award for her work A language for the emptiness of words.

A Personal Connection
For Georgina Hazlett, presenting the Open Award this year held special significance. She fondly recalls attending the awards with her father, David Hazlett, in previous years, experiences that instilled a lifelong appreciation for local creativity and community celebration.

CBG at the 8th Annual Charity Golf Day

Cameron Brae Group (CBG) was proud to sponsor the 8th Annual Charity Golf Day 2025, held on Friday 5th September at the Mollymook Hilltop Golf Course.

This important event raises funds for the Cancer Support Foundation Milton Ulladulla, with all proceeds staying in the local community to support patients and families receiving care at the Community Cancer Services Centre, located next to Milton Ulladulla Hospital.

The day welcomed golfers of all abilities for a 4 Person Ambrose, beginning with a complimentary breakfast, a shotgun start at 11:00am, and finishing with food, auctions, and player presentations in the afternoon.

We extend our thanks to the Mollymook Hilltop Golf Course for hosting such a meaningful day and to everyone who participated or contributed. CBG also fielded a team of four players from our contractor and consultant partners, the same people working alongside us to bring our latest neighbourhood at Maisie Way to life.

At Cameron Brae, we believe in supporting our local community, and our recent initiative with the Ronald McDonald House Hospitality Cart has been a heartwarming reminder of the power of generosity.

When Merrilyn Nessi came to collect our donations, she was blown away by the kindness of our team. The trolley was running low on stock, and she even considered breaking policy to make a Woolworths run herself. Thanks to our team’s generosity, that wasn’t necessary.

What is the Hospitality Cart?

The Ronald McDonald House Hospitality Cart is a mobile resource that brings comfort and practical support to families with seriously ill children in the hospital. Many families spend long days at their child’s bedside, away from home and the things they need most. The cart provides:

Boredom-busters – Books, craft kits, puzzles, and toys to entertain children and siblings.
Educational resources – School supplies to help kids keep up with learning.
Practical care items – Toiletries and personal essentials for parents caught off guard by unexpected hospital stays.
Snacks and beverages – A small but much-needed moment of relief during stressful times.

How You Can Help

The Hospitality Cart runs entirely on donations, and demand is high. If you’d like to contribute, donations can be dropped off at the Birling Sales & Information Centre at any time . Some of the most well-received items include:
